Анотация: The importance of this industry for coastal communities, and the pressure that the sector is under from market and international forces as well as environmental constraints, warrant the allocation of public resources to support some fish processing activities through EU and national funds. This is why the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund includes fostering the marketing and processing of fish as one of its priorities. Public funds are used to support EU fish processors to invest in new techniques, raise health and environmental standards and diversify into new species and new market outlets.
