Анотация: ПFloods, forest fires, storms and earthquakes have caused major disruptions in EU countries in recent years. The damages have affected both humans and their animals. Each country decides how to prevent, prepare for and manage such natural disasters. This is not regulated in EU law. Civil protection authorities are usually in charge of planning, training for, and leading rescue operations but private operators, non-governmental organisations, but veterinary services often become involved when the natural disaster has affected animals. This report studies how veterinary services have been involved in preparedness, training, and rescue operations, and describes some of the lessons learned from such experiences.
