Анотация: The format of the seventh edition of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia is basically the same as that of the preceding edition, published in 1966. This volume, however, has been renamed Wright's Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia. Readers familiar with the book will be pleased with the addition of new information about drugs, the updating of material and the regrouping of unrevised content. Detailed descriptions of local and regional anesthetic procedures comprise a large proportion of the text. The introduction on mode of action of local analgesics appears for the first time and includes revised descriptions of individual drugs and techniques for their application. In the chapter on premedication, acepromazine has been compared favorably, with other ataractic drugs as it should be. It may be worth noting that when acepromazine is injected repeatedly in some dogs, during a single extended period, increasingly higher dosages may be required to attain equal depths of tranquillization.
